Born and raised in the Maniototo, Evan spent his high school years at Waitaki Boys before completing his law degree at the University of Otago in 1976. In 1993, he also graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity from the same university.
Apart from two years on his OE, Evan has worked continuously as a general lawyer in a variety of firms since admission to the Bar. His primary areas of expertise are residential conveyancing, general family law, wills, trusts and estate administration. Evan is Chair of The Southern Trust.
In 2014, Evan was appointed a Notary Public. He is Wilkinson Rodgers’ resident expert on oaths and declarations.
Outside of law, Evan's interests are his grandchildren and viticulture. With wife Kay, he is a director of the award-winning Aravin Wines.
April 2020 update: Evan has now retired to live in Clyde. He is continuing to practise as a Notary Public and to assist with the transition of his clients within the firm. He has also retained his NZ Law Society practising certificate for a bit longer. Linda Mulholland and Catherine Illingworth will be working with his conveyancing clients.
