Richard joined the firm in 2012, having worked previously in the Buller and Tasman districts for Stevens Orchard Lawyers. Richard works primarily in the fields of civil disputes and litigation (commercial, farming, company, banking, trusts and estates litigation, as well as debt recovery and relationship property), estates administration (he has a particular interest in complex estates), terms of trade, contract drafting, trusts and family law. He also has a strong interest in resource management, environmental and public law.
Richards interests relate to infrastructure and land-use matters including renewable energy projects, mining, irrigation, forestry and agriculture. He is a longstanding wilding tree control volunteer, and has also acted as counsel on a pro bono basis in resource management and conservation matters for a selection of NGO's.
A professional books and literary editor prior to admission to the Bar, Richard holds a doctorate in the Humanities, and is a well-known, widely published poet.
